A lamp that changes colour with the light.

This is the HKLIVING Glassfibre Table Lamp in Petrol Blue, the larger lamp in the glassfibre range, standing 51.5cm tall with a quietly architectural presence that sets it apart from the smaller pieces in the collection. The form here is more elongated and upright than the mushroom-capped pink and off white versions, with a taller shade that gives the whole piece a more vertical, considered silhouette.

The colour is where this lamp becomes genuinely interesting. The supplier name of petrol blue does not quite tell the full story. In natural daylight the lamp reads as a soft, muted mint green, cool and fresh with a translucency that feels almost mineral. In lower or warmer light, the blue-green quality shifts and deepens, giving it a different character entirely depending on the time of day and the room it is in. The textured glassfibre surface adds to this, catching light across its entire body and making it as visually compelling when unlit as it is switched on.

At this scale it works best as a considered statement piece, on a sideboard, console, or low cabinet where the height can be appreciated without being lost. The HKLIVING Glassfibre Table Lamp is available in a range of colourways and sizes, each with its own distinct form, from the compact pink through to this and an even larger version still to come.

Styling Suggestions

The petrol blue colourway sits especially well in spaces with natural materials and plenty of natural light, where the mint quality of the glaze is at its most vivid. It pairs naturally with warm timber, raw plaster, and earthy ceramics, where the cool green tone provides a gentle contrast without jarring. In a more neutral scheme (white walls, concrete floors, linen upholstery) it becomes the colour in the room, used sparingly and all the more effective for it.

Given its height, it works well on lower surfaces where it can be seen in full: a sideboard in a living room, a low cabinet in a hallway, or a plinth-style side table in a bedroom. Avoid placing it somewhere it will be obscured or competing with other tall objects, this lamp earns its place when it has room to be seen.

Why We Like It

The petrol blue is the lamp in this range that surprises people most. You expect a blue and you get something closer to a pale mint, and that gap between expectation and reality is entirely to the lamp's advantage: it is softer, more interesting, and more versatile than the name suggests. The additional height gives it a presence that the smaller versions do not have, and the more upright, architectural silhouette feels like a natural evolution of the mushroom form rather than simply a scaled-up version. A genuinely beautiful object, and one that earns its place in a room as much for how it looks as for the light it produces.
